Jan Karel KRICHBAUM
1770
Joannes Carolus Krichbaum (1738 - after 1787) completed his apprenticeship under the excellent Viennese violin maker Josef Stadlmann (1720 - 1781). Krichbaum came to Prague sometime before 1760. In 1770 he worked for Václav Michal Eberle (1738 - 1772), son of Jan Oldřich Eberle (1699 - 1768). He probably left to Vienna the same year. He became independent and from 1778 he was a citizen of Vienna. His Prague violin from 1770 is evidence that the violin making connection between Prague and Vienna resulted in the case of this luthier in excellent quality. The violin combines the period featuresof the Viennese and Prauge Schools of violin making. In a very good condition including the original label. The grafted neck.
